So I've joined the masses and created myself a Dreamwidth account. Don't know how much I'll use it but if someday I look around and notice no one's on LJ and everyone's over there, I want to be prepared! So I've been seeing people making "I'm on Dreamwidth" posts but haven't been keeping track since I wasn't sure I was going to get one... If you've got one, can you remind me and post your username?

Are there many communities over there yet? I don't know where to start exploring...

So I've just rewatched the Buffy season 2 episode, "The Dark Age". In the scene where Giles tells Buffy to stay out of his business because it's "private", Buffy replies: "I don't care from private! I care from dead guys attacking us."

Is this... "care from" ... phrase common/correct grammar? Common regional grammar, maybe? I feel like I would use "care about" in those sentences. I don't think I ever hear anyone say "care from" like that. But then, I've obviously seen this episode before, a few times probably, and I don't remember this question occurring to me before, so maybe it's something that *used* to be common and has faded from my vocabulary since 1998? Or am I just totally living under a rock and lots of people say this all the time?

So, cya_ficathon is due today. And I had a possibility of being on time, considering I finished writing my story yesterday evening, but then my internet connection cut out almost immediately afterwards and stayed out for about 24 hours, so I am now nearing the end of the due date, unbeta'ed, and certain to be late.

Anyone available to do a quickie beta? Not too quickie, of course; if you're available to do it but not available to do it on a rush order, I'll take what I can get. I've explained my predicament to our darling ficathon-runner, so I think some additional lateness will be forgiven. It's under 2000 words, and not to give too much away before it's openly posted, but it's based in Angel the series, not around any of the characters appearing in the main credits, but still very prominent, important characters. Pleeeeease?

Those of you who were at all concerned by last year's account deletions by SixApart/LJ and how long we waited for explanations, LJ is hosting elections for user representatives on its Advisory Board. Here's some things to think about:

-We want someone in fandom. Please view this post for a simple run-down of nominees' fandom status.
-For someone in fandom to win, fandom as a unit will probably have to vote for the same person, or we'll be all splintered. It might be the only way to get someone in fandom in, and someone in fandom is better than no one in fandom.
-Join fandom_votes.
-Look at fandom candidates and their platforms here.
-Vote for your favorite fandom candidate on fandom_votes to help figure out what fandom should vote for here.
-There will be a run-off between the top two in that poll to decide the final person fandom should vote for. It's supposed to start midnight on the 26, so get your vote on.
-Vote for the fandom_votes candidate in the election.
-Spread the word!
-If you've already voted and want to change your vote based on this new info, do so here.

Remember folks, this is for our right to be heard, our right to have information communicated to us with honesty and in a timely manner, our right to not have our accounts deleted without warning or the right to defend ourselves, and our right to post porn! Is there any chance anyone would be available to beta my fic for remixredux08? I can't say too much about it here since the fics will initially be posted anonymously, but it's BtVS. And it might be a challenge because as it stands now, it's looking pretty gosh-darn crappy (this is my first time participating in a remix, and it's a lot harder than I realized!), and I need a reasonably quick turnaround. (The due date is Saturday, but there are circumstances that might limit my computer + net access from Wednesday onwards). 2500 words. Anyone?
